About Robert Bonk

Photographer Robert Bonk grew up among the marshes and waters of Jacksonville, Florida. As a child, he would head out into the countryside to photograph his surroundings, developing the pictures in his own home-made darkroom. He left Florida for New York city in 1977, after graduating with a degree in art. Initially trained as painter, Bonk’s recurring fascination with the camera eventually led him to pursue photography full-time. He has been photographing ever since. His multi-disciplinary background still shows through in the painterly swathes of color and vibrant compositions of his botanical photographs.
