Background Information about Peperina Magenta

Introduction

Peperina Magenta interprets the icons of film history in surreal, ornamental mosaic compositions. From Marilyn Monroe to Audrey Hepburn, the artist’s series Amor y Fantasia is full of legendary actors in bright pieces full of contrasts. “I want to express true love through real women. These women are as beautiful as love itself, and surrounded by happiness and glamour,” the artist says.

In her colorful art, Peperina Magenta combines the diverse stages of her life. As a child, she grew up under the creative influence of her architect father and fashion conscious grandmother in Argentina. During her studies, she spent a year in Mexico, where she had a lot of profound experiences that would affect her creative process later. It was a typical Mexican “mix of vibrant colors and textures,” that fascinated her back then. The artist then moved to Buenos Aires. From 2014 to 2016, she was in Italy, grappling with significant works such as the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel.

“My style is inspired by love, imagination, and desire – my whole life is driven by it,” says Peperina Magenta. She continually seeks new techniques and forms of expression in order to refine her process.

These days, Magenta lives in Copenhagen, where she is exploring the Scandinavian aesthetic for herself. Looking at her work, it is always astonishing how so many diverse cultural influences are reflected in her colorful mosaics.
