Ralph Hinterkeuser (born 1959) presents the world as a stage and it’s cities as scenes of post-modern theater. With a large-format camera, he captures his subjects in urban and rural spaces and creates high density pictures with enormous narrative power, for which the expression, “narrative documentary”, was coined. Hinterkeuser studied with Gottfried Jäger and Jörg Boström and has since worked with photography, also in a curatorial way. His work is found in many collections, such as that of the DZ Bank.
