Danae Falliers
Danae Falliers works show us the fleating nature of transition. Inherently difficult to grasp, and only visible during a change from one state to another. It is neither one, nor is it the other: It is normally both, or lies somewhere between the two. Sharpness becomes bluriness, photography and drawing, contrasts and abstractions. One can therefore interpret Fallier’s landscapes as sensual and aesthetic journeys to the boundaries of objective perception. Only through are subjective feelings can we see what is hidden to the naked eye; duration, intensity, emotion. It is not about the geographical appreciation of a landscape, but about viewing hidden nuances and fleeting forms of transition.
What we actually see are imaginary landscapes that remind us of their original form. A resident of Santa Fe, Falliers prefers to look for her landscapes in the South West of the USA. She finds her images in California, New Mexico, Texas, and Colorado, where she grew up – regions that are known for their extraodrinary, sun, space, and rawness.
